NATURAL STONE
Granite is the most durable & widely used natural stone. It’s
natural creation takes thousands, even millions of years of intense heat & compression within the earth. There
are literally hundreds of colors available that originate from all over the globe. The geographical location gives each
granite unique & amazing characteristics. From consistent, simple grain patterns to exotics that come
alive with movement & veining – there is usually something for everyone’s taste & design ambition. The
most popular surface finish for granite is a polished finish. However, now available are antiqued, honed, brushed
& flamed finishes which gives the stone’s surface a satin to a matte finish while also adding an element
of texture to the surface.
ENGINEERED STONE
An extremely durable, man-made resin-based quartz material that
imitates stone. Each manufacturer offers a color pallet of roughly 35 colors which can includes bold
colors to neutrals. Patterns tend to beconsistent with a tight grain.
SOLID SURFACE
A man-made material which is acrylic-based (plastic). Corian (Dupont)
is a trusted, well established brand & offers upwards of 125 colors to chose from which includes bold solid
colors to neutrals – many mimic stone & glass. Since solid surface is relatively light & easy
to work with, it can be used in very creative applications.
CULTURED MARBLE
A man-made resin & marble dust mixture that is primarily used
in bathrooms for vanities, shower enclosures,tubs
– standard sizes & garden/ spa tubs, tub surrounds &
also
window sills & wet curbs. Colors have evolved to neutral
combinations with & without various veining throughout.
